hey dan,
im runnin general elec g's , no probs yet !!
what causes a valve to start burnin bright cherry red down its length ? is it a loss of vacc or is it caused by the amp ? that was after 2-3 hrs a day 4-5 days a wk ,for 3 yrs -
im sure its a valve issue ????
do these amps need bias adjustment ? can they be adjusted ??
can you recommend a good replacement vol pot ? no remote - i dont use mine its crap ! also could i use 2 amps with a pre amp n how ???

Thanks alot Dan. I dont understand schematics, and I am not quite sure I understand why speakers or resistors are not needed. But as long as I can enjoy good music, without blowing the amp up, it is god enough for me.
Maybe the schematics also can tell me why I sometimes loose sound for a few seconds in one speaker, but when plugging headphones in I dont have the same problem?
Thanks again for your fast answer.

Hannibal, look at the schematic - when the phones are plugged in the ground is lifted from the speakers - ie they are not connected. It is fine, just leave the headphones in. You could fit some 10w ~20 Ohm resistors to the outputs if you are really bothered.

Hi there. I would like to use my MS-6V6 as a headphone amp. Can I do that without having any speakers connected? My concern is that I blow up something when speakers are not connected.
Thanks.

Hi Doug, I've deleted your duplicate comment on the welcome page. Powered subs have such a high input impedance that they are effectively zero load. You can connect it however you want. It will make no difference. For convenience you could use whichever terminals you currently have free. You will need a sub with high level inputs or you will need to knock up some kind of L-pad attenuator if you only have a line level input. Sub siting is well outside the scope of this website but information on the topic is all over the web.

Can the MS 6V6 be used to run a powered sub aswell as the stereo speakers? What would be the best method of connecting it and siting the powered sub?
Coud the methods be used on any 2 channel tube driven amplifier?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ok im back after another year of ms bliss , doug i have now run this amp for over 3 yrs and not a peep from it i still love it every time i use it , that cant be said for any of the music angels !! hey i never knew there were angels in hell ? ok ive tried rft valves but they have massive start up flash and this reduced their life to about 1 month !! so now im runnin mullard coke bottles , mmmm so damm good if you can afford em ! that said i think any 6v6g fat valves is the way forward , the only other tubes i recommend is the electro harmonix , ive used these for 3 yrs now upto 3 hrs a day faultless , well i hope that you get the switch problem sorted , i really love this amp and bear in mind that the price of them is goin up ! to be honest i would not part with it for £500 ! ok and i have now the almost matching yaoin cd player , fab , fab , fab , £300 is no money for this go get 1

i hope more people find this site its needed , i wish u luck but its worth it
